Finding experiences in Leipzig…

Prices are starting prices in EUR and may vary by date, group size and option. Check availability and full terms on Viator before booking.

Search covers the whole collection for this city, not just the experiences shown. Price, length and sorting are applied before the list is built; when a search is running, price and length are applied to the results on this page. The featured order may reflect reviews, popularity, bookings and payments from operators.

We may earn a commission when you book through these links, at no extra cost to you.

How to choose

A ghost walk leads, and no Bach tour

Twenty-four experiences run in Leipzig, and the most reviewed by a wide margin is a 90-minute walk about the city's dark secrets: 213 of the 593 reviews on this page belong to that one listing, at €18 and 4.6. The same operator sells a second macabre route around the Old Cemetery, also €18, rated 4.9 from 22 reviews. What the inventory leaves out matters as much. Not one of the 24 is a Bach or music tour, none goes to the Battle of the Nations monument, and no boat appears anywhere — the church, the museum and the monument that anchor our own three-day plan are not sold as guided products here at all.

Format splits the rest in two. Eleven listings are sold as private or exclusive bookings, one of them an airport transfer rather than a tour, and every listing above €100 is private: a €108 bike tour for a private group, a courtyards-and-passages walk at €159, and a €242.34 private walk in Wittenberg. At the other end, nine cost under €20, four of them self-guided — a €5 scavenger hunt, an €8.80 audio tour of the communist past, an €8.80 Wittenberg walk and a €19.95 detective game. The median listed duration is two hours. The shortest is a 50-to-60-minute electric carriage ride, and one private local guide will stay out for six.

What to know before you book in Leipzig

Nothing on this page is a museum ticket, so the indoor half of Leipzig is yours to arrange. The Bach Museum normally opens Tuesday to Sunday and public holidays, and its listening material is worth budgeting minutes for rather than walking past. The city-history collection sits in the Old Town Hall on Markt and normally opens Tuesday to Sunday; the same museum runs other branches at other addresses, so aim for that entrance.

Two Monday closures shape the rest of the week. The Museum of Fine Arts normally closes Mondays and opens at noon on Wednesdays; GRASSI Applied Arts normally closes Mondays too and keeps different Wednesday hours for permanent and special exhibitions, so check the collection rather than the building. Before planning a climb at the Battle of the Nations monument, check visitor access and what the upper levels require. All 24 listings can be cancelled free of charge.

Quick answers

Is there a Bach tour in Leipzig?

None of the 24 experiences we list is a Bach or music tour, so the Bach sites are a visit you make on your own. The Bach Museum normally opens Tuesday to Sunday and public holidays, and its listening stations repay the extra time. The nearest themed walks here are the two dark-history routes at €18 each and a self-guided audio tour of the city's communist past at €8.80.

How much does a guided tour of Leipzig cost?

Nine of the 24 listings cost under €20, including a €5 self-guided scavenger hunt and a €13.60 guided city-centre walk that has no reviews yet. Seven cost more than €100 and every one of those is a private booking, rising to €242.34 for a private walk in Wittenberg. The eight in between run from the €24 hop-on hop-off bus, the only bus on the page, to a €99.90 private tour taking in the Panorama Tower.

Can I take a day trip from Leipzig?

Only two of the 24 listings leave the city, and both go to Wittenberg: an €8.80 self-guided walking tour and a €242.34 private guided one, the widest price gap on the page. No other out-of-town destination appears. Nothing on the list runs to the Battle of the Nations monument either, so if you go there yourself, check visitor access and what the upper levels require before planning a climb.
