How to choose

Lima's most-booked experiences leave the city entirely

Lima's page is weighted towards the desert road south. Five of the 24 experiences we list leave the city for Paracas, Huacachina, Ica or the Nazca Lines, and they hold 18,797 of the page's 30,618 reviews; the two most-reviewed listings here are both that trip, with 9,476 and 6,531 opinions behind them. Four run as single days of 16 to 18 hours at €42.80 to €82.43, and the fifth stretches to 48 hours with a flight over the Nazca Lines at €245.70, the dearest item on the page. The median listing, by contrast, lasts four hours and costs €51.96, a figure that describes the Lima half of this page and none of the desert half.

Inside Lima the range is short. Seven guided city tours run from a €17.61 four-hour walk through the historic centre and its catacombs to a €175.25 private full day, the only private guide here, and two sightseeing buses cost €30.82 each. Six food experiences follow, from a two-hour chocolate workshop at €29.76 to a pair of five-hour gourmet tours at €127.69 that differ only in starting by day or after dark. For a city on a cliff above the Pacific, the water is thinly served: two sea-lion boat trips to the Palomino Islands hold 313 reviews between them. No title names the Museo Larco, the MALI, Pachacamac or Huaca Pucllana, and the only Larco on the page is Larcomar, where the panoramic bus starts.

Cheap tickets and the days these sites close

Lima's entry prices are low, so a tour here buys transport and company rather than access. Huaca Pucllana is seen on a guided visit in any case, and the guide comes with the ticket: S/15 by day, 9:00 to 17:00 and closed on Tuesdays, S/17 at night, Wednesday to Sunday 18:30 to 21:00 by reservation. The Museo Larco is S/50 at the door and S/45 online, open daily 9:00 to 19:00.

The Circuito Mágico del Agua costs S/7, opens 15:00 to 22:00 every day and runs its shows at 19:15, 20:15 and 21:10, the fixed times the €51.96 night tour is built around. Pachacamac, which no listing here visits, is S/15, Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 to 17:00 with sales until 16:30, and Sunday until 16:00. The MALI is S/40 for foreign visitors and closed on Mondays. Free cancellation applies to all 24.

Quick answers

Is the Paracas and Huacachina day trip worth booking from Lima?

This is the trip the page is built around. Five of our 24 listings run south to Paracas, Huacachina, Ica or Nazca, and they carry 18,797 of the 30,618 reviews gathered here, including the two most-reviewed items on the page. The four single-day versions take 16 to 18 hours and cost €42.80 to €82.43; the two-day trip adds a flight over the Nazca Lines for €245.70. Every one of them cancels free, which is worth having on a day that long.

Do I need a tour to visit Huaca Pucllana?

No, and none of our 24 listings names it. The site is only seen on guided visits anyway, so the guide comes with the S/15 daytime ticket, sold for a site open 9:00 to 17:00 and closed on Tuesdays. Night visits run Wednesday to Sunday between 18:30 and 21:00 at S/17 and have to be reserved.

Are Lima's food tours worth the price?

Six of the 24 are food or cooking, rated 4.8 to 5.0 and holding 5,823 reviews between them. The spread is wide: a two-hour chocolate workshop at €29.76, a three-and-a-half-hour market and street-snack walk at €44.03, a four-hour cooking class with a market tour at €63.41, and two five-hour gourmet tours at €127.69 each. The most reviewed is a four-hour walk at €92.47 with 2,938 reviews, third most-reviewed on the whole page. All of them cancel free.
