How to choose
Munich's list mostly points away from Munich. Fifteen of the 24 experiences we list leave the city: seven go to Neuschwanstein, four to the Dachau memorial, two to Salzburg, one to Berchtesgaden and the Eagle's Nest, and one along the Romantic Road to Rothenburg and Harburg. The castle runs are the longest and the dearest, nine and a half to eleven hours at €69 to €541, and five of the seven add Linderhof to the same day. Their ratings track group size rather than money: the €69 shared day tour is the most reviewed product on the page, 7,568 reviews at 4.4, while the €541 private version holds 5.0 from 162. The median length across all 24 listings is seven hours.
Only nine listings stay inside Munich, and three of those are Oktoberfest products at €190, €199 and €200, the most expensive city-based tours here; the one bundling Hofbräu tent tickets is also the single listing on the page without free cancellation. The other six are short and mostly inexpensive: a two-hour old town walk at €23, a bike tour at €35, a Third Reich walk at €38, an evening ghost walk at €50, a private local guide from €96.26 and a food tour at €99.99. Five of the 24 finish within four hours. No listing covers the Residenz, Nymphenburg, the Deutsches Museum, the BMW Museum or a Pinakothek, none goes on the water, and outside Oktoberfest only the food tour names beer at all.
The sights this inventory skips are the ones you arrange yourself, and they are not difficult. The Bavarian Palace Administration states that the Residenz Museum can be explored without a guided tour, while the Treasury and the Cuvilliés Theatre have their own visiting arrangements, so check the opening times and what your ticket actually covers. Nymphenburg keeps seasonal hours and stops admission before closing, which makes it a morning.
BMW Welt is a free public exhibition space; the BMW Museum across the road is a separate ticketed museum, so check its calendar and last entry before committing a late afternoon to it. The Deutsches Museum has several branches, so book the Museumsinsel site unless you intend to travel out to the transport centre. If paintings matter more than engineering, choose one Pinakothek collection from the official visitor calendar rather than stacking several into one day.

We list seven Neuschwanstein trips and they separate by group size and comfort rather than by what you see. Shared day tours cost €69 to €79 and run ten to eleven hours; the two VIP coach versions are both €195 for ten and a half hours, and a private car covering the same castles is €541 for nine and a half. Five of the seven also stop at Linderhof. The cheapest, at €69, carries by far the most reviews on this page, 7,568, and the lowest rating of the seven at 4.4.
Four of the 24 listings go to the Dachau memorial, at €40.50, €47, €52 and €53 for five to six hours, and two of them state that they travel by train. They rate closely, 4.7 to 4.9, and the €53 tour has 6,093 reviews, the second highest count on this page. Less than €13 separates the four, so the choice is about timing and length rather than price, and all four allow free cancellation.
Yes, and here you will have to: none of the 24 listings covers the Residenz, Nymphenburg, the Deutsches Museum, the BMW Museum or a Pinakothek. The Bavarian Palace Administration states that the Residenz Museum can be explored without a guided tour, with the Treasury and the Cuvilliés Theatre visited under their own arrangements. Nymphenburg has seasonal hours and stops admission before closing, so go in the morning. BMW Welt is free to enter, while the BMW Museum opposite is separately ticketed, so check its calendar and last entry.
