How to choose
Naples sells day trips, not city tours. Of the 18 experiences we list, 17 take you out of the city. Eight are coast days through Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, two of them stopping at Pompeii on the way; two more are private transfers to that same coast, and one crosses to Capri and the Blue Grotto. Seven listings name Pompeii in all, three of those adding Vesuvius, and one goes to Herculaneum. The single product that stays put is a two-and-a-half-hour street food walk at €42. The median length across all 18 is seven hours forty-five minutes, and twelve of them run seven hours or more, so most of these bookings are a whole day rather than an afternoon.
Prices run from €35 to €200, with a median of €85, and the list splits hard by length: six listings finish inside four hours, the other twelve take seven or more, and nothing sits between. The short six are the two private transfers, two Pompeii-only visits at €63 and €65, the food walk, and a two-hour Herculaneum tour with an archaeologist at €35, the cheapest thing here. What is absent is Naples itself: no listing names the Archaeological Museum, the Cappella Sansevero, the Certosa di San Martino or the tunnels under the old centre. Ratings sit at 4.5 or better throughout, but 10,892 of the 30,803 reviews belong to one €59.13 group trip to the coast.
Pompeii sells its own tickets, and each carries the visitor's name, the day and an entry time slot, with the park limited to 20,000 visitors a day, so buy in advance whether or not a guide comes with you. The Circumvesuviana Naples–Sorrento line reaches Pompei Villa dei Misteri, which serves the Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra entrances. Seven of our listings cover the site, from €63 to €130.
The city sights are yours to arrange, and they close on a pattern: the Archaeological Museum (9:00–19:30) and the Cappella Sansevero (9:00–19:00) on Tuesdays, the Certosa di San Martino (8:30–17:00) on Wednesdays. The chapel requires booking, with tickets released 60 days ahead and a further batch two days before each date. Napoli Sotterranea's only official entrance is Piazza San Gaetano 68. All 18 listings allow free cancellation, and petty crime is higher at busy sights, so keep your belongings in view.

Yes. The archaeological park issues its own tickets, each naming the visitor with a date and an entry time slot, and admission is capped at 20,000 people a day, so the advance booking matters more than the guide. Reaching it alone is simple enough: the Circumvesuviana Naples–Sorrento line stops at Pompei Villa dei Misteri, beside the Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra entrances. Seven of our 18 listings cover Pompeii at €63 to €130, two of them sold as skip-the-line. Herculaneum, at €35 for two hours with an archaeologist and the ticket named in the listing, is the cheapest archaeology on the page.
It is what this list is built for: eight of the 18 experiences run the coast through Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, taking seven to eleven hours and costing €59.13 to €174. Three of the eight put you on a boat for part of the day. The €59.13 group tour is the most reviewed product here by a wide margin, at 10,892 reviews and 4.8. If you would rather set your own pace, two private transfers cover the same ground, €85.50 to Sorrento and €200 to Positano or Amalfi.
Only one: a two-and-a-half-hour street food walk at €42, rated 4.8 from 2,752 reviews. The museums, chapels and underground tunnels are not sold as tours on this page, so book them directly, and note that the Cappella Sansevero requires booking, with tickets released 60 days ahead and more two days before each date. Plan around the closing days too: the chapel and the Archaeological Museum shut on Tuesdays, the Certosa di San Martino on Wednesdays.
