Questions
Quick answers
How much do the tickets cost?
The park, the shrine, the university campus and its museum, the canal and Sakaimachi are free. The TV Tower is ¥1,200, the Clock Tower ¥350, the Ōkurayama lift ¥1,000 or ¥1,370 with the Olympic Museum, Shiroi Koibito Park ¥1,200, the Mount Moiwa ropeway and cable car ¥2,100 return, the Beer Museum ¥1,000 for the self-guided tour since July 2026 and the Otaru canal boat ¥1,800. The train to Otaru is about ¥800 each way.
How do I get around?
The three subway lines cost from ¥210 a ride, ¥830 for a day pass or ¥520 on weekends and holidays; the streetcar loops the southwest of the centre for a flat fare, and the buses fill the gaps to the ski jump and the Beer Museum. Taxis are honest and useful in winter. JR trains go to Otaru and the airport; the Kitaca or any national IC card works on all of it.

3 days in Sapporo
Sapporo's centre is a numbered grid around Ōdōri Park, flat and walkable, with a heated underground walkway from the station to Susukino for the winter. Day two uses the Tōzai subway line west to Maruyama and buses up to the ski jump and the cookie park, and the streetcar and ropeway to Mount Moiwa at dusk. Day three is the JR rapid train to Otaru, 30 to 40 minutes along the coast. The Beer Museum began charging for entry in July 2026, the Red Brick Office reopened in 2025 after restoration and now charges too, and the ropeway closes for inspection in early April. In winter the Snow Festival fills Ōdōri in early February and every pavement is ice; in summer the beer gardens fill the park.
