Temple admission is specific
- Kiyomizu-dera opens early, but closing time varies by season. Plan the uphill approach and check the temple’s visitor information; special night openings are separate calendar events.Source: Kiyomizu-dera · checked Sep 2026
- Tenryū-ji has separate admission arrangements for its garden, buildings and Dharma Hall. Choose what you intend to visit; the nearby bamboo walk is not a promise of access to every temple interior.Source: Tenryū-ji · checked Sep 2026
- Kinkaku-ji’s standard visiting hours end in the late afternoon. Check the current information and keep a full transport allowance from Arashiyama rather than relying on a short straight-line distance.Source: Shōkoku-ji: Kinkaku-ji · checked Sep 2026

Questions
Quick answers
Can I visit every temple garden and hall?
No. Some precincts have several separately ticketed areas. Choose the parts that interest you and allow more time if you want a comprehensive visit.

3 days in Kyoto
Kyoto rewards time inside a few temple landscapes rather than a long list of entrances. The eastern day follows a north-to-south sequence before ending at Yasaka Shrine. The southern day limits Fushimi Inari to a manageable section of its paths. Arashiyama has a morning of its own, followed by a planned connection to Kinkaku-ji. These are full days with hills and steps; start the temple visits early and leave evening wandering optional.
