Book the island and museum
- The National Park Service directs visitors to Alcatraz City Cruises for island-landing tickets. Book in advance and use the departure point and check-in instructions on the ticket; other bay cruises may circle the island without landing.Source: National Park Service · checked Sep 2026

Does any Alcatraz cruise let me visit the island?
No. Book an island-landing ticket with the authorised operator linked by the National Park Service. A sightseeing cruise around the island is a different product.
What if Alcatraz tickets are unavailable?
Keep the city days and replace the island visit with a separately planned activity, such as more time at the waterfront or a museum. Do not buy a non-landing cruise expecting it to include the prison visit.
