Red Fort
Follow the visitor route through the Mughal fort’s gates, courts and pavilions. Smaller structures within the walls belong to this one visit; extra museum galleries or an evening performance would extend the schedule.
3-day itinerary · India

The plan at a glance
Give Old Delhi a day of its own, allowing for crowded lanes and worship at Jama Masjid. A second day follows a northward sequence from the Qutb complex through Hauz Khas to Lodi Gardens. The final day starts at Humayun’s Tomb and moves toward India Gate, Bangla Sahib and Connaught Place. These are full sightseeing days; keep hotel journeys, traffic and security checks in mind when choosing your start time.
At a glance
Day 1
Begin with a substantial visit to the Red Fort, then take lunch before visiting Jama Masjid during tourist-access hours. Finish with a selected route through Chandni Chowk rather than adding a string of small mosque stops.
Morning

Follow the visitor route through the Mughal fort’s gates, courts and pavilions. Smaller structures within the walls belong to this one visit; extra museum galleries or an evening performance would extend the schedule.
Midday
Afternoon

Visit the main courtyard and accessible visitor areas of the mosque overlooking Old Delhi. Allow time for the approach, shoes and entry arrangements, with worship taking priority over sightseeing.

Explore a manageable stretch of the market streets rather than trying to cover every bazaar. Crowds and narrow lanes slow the pace, so make room for a seated break and a clear meeting point if travelling together.
Evening
Day 2
Start at the Qutb complex while it is cooler, then travel north to Hauz Khas for lunch and its historic precinct. Continue by transport to Lodi Gardens for a shorter late-afternoon walk.
Morning

Explore the minaret, ruined mosque, iron pillar and surrounding monuments as one archaeological visit. The route stays within the visitor areas at ground level; it does not include climbing the tower.
Midday
Afternoon

The reservoir-side ruins, tomb and former madrasa give a different view of Delhi’s medieval history. Combine a selected walk through the complex with the nearby village lanes, keeping the larger neighbourhood outside this visit.

Walk a short circuit among the gardens and tombs, allowing time to sit in the shade. The monuments are part of one park visit rather than a list of separate timed attractions.
Evening
Day 3
Visit the garden tomb in the morning, then travel to India Gate for a short exterior stop. After lunch, visit Bangla Sahib respectfully, continue to Jantar Mantar and finish around Connaught Place.
Morning

Give the main tomb and its surrounding garden avenues a substantial morning visit. Choose a few adjoining structures within the complex; separate neighbourhood walks and additional museums are not included.

Pause around the memorial and its public surroundings after the garden-tomb visit. This is a short exterior stop, without an additional tour of the wider government district.
Midday
Afternoon

Visit the accessible prayer and courtyard areas with time to understand the setting and its community life. Follow the attendants’ guidance about head coverings, footwear and respectful behaviour.

Walk among the large masonry astronomical instruments and read how their shapes were used for observation. This is a focused outdoor visit between the gurudwara and Connaught Place.

Finish around the colonnaded blocks and central shopping streets. Take a selected circuit and choose somewhere for dinner, leaving the wider shopping district for another time if you prefer a slower evening.

Questions
Three full days cover this selection of monuments, religious sites and market districts. Delhi has many more layers; add days for specialist museums, further neighbourhoods and excursions.
They are within the same archaeological complex and are included in one two-hour stop. The route does not count them as three separate attractions or assume access inside the tower.
Agra is outside this Delhi itinerary. Give it a separate day or an overnight stay with its own transport and admission planning, rather than attaching it to a Delhi sightseeing day.
No. Use transport for the marked longer journeys. Metro stations can still require a last-mile connection, and wide roads or heat can make an apparently short distance impractical on foot.
Shorten the market walk, choose a smaller garden circuit and use taxis for more connections. On the final day, leave Jantar Mantar for another trip if you want more time at Humayun’s Tomb or Bangla Sahib.
